Alper Aktaş graduated from Middle East Technical University with a degree in International Relations.

He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001. During his time within Ministry, AmbassadorAktaş held several positions in Deputy General Directorate for the Northeast Mediterranean, Deputy General Directorate for General and Bilateral Economic Affairs, Deputy General Directorate for Relations with Iraq, Chief Foreign Affairs Advisor in the President’s Office, Deputy General Directorate for Overseas Promotion and Cultural Affairs, and Center for Strategic Research. He also served as the Deputy Foreign Minister's Advisor.

During his service, Ambassador Aktaş undertook assignments at various diplomatic missions, notably including the posts in Baghdad Embassy, Paris Embassy, NATO Defense College (Italy), and the London Embassy. He also served as Consul General in Plovdiv and New York.

Aktaş holds a master's degree and speaks English, French and Italian languages. He is married with one child.

He was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic Türkiye to Somalia by Presidential Decree No. 2024/35, dated 15.02.2024.
