Fellow Citizens,

Dear Somali Friends,

I am honored to assume my duty as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Federal Republic of Somalia as of March 15, 2024.

Türkiye-Somalia relations which is rooted in history, entered a new phase with the visit of H.E. Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Mogadishu in 2011. This historic visit which was held during a severe drought, causing a major humanitarian crisis in Somalia, not only raised awareness about Somalia in the international arena, but also constituted a milestone in the relations between our two countries.

Today, we are pleased by the current level of our relations and cooperation which gained a considerable momentum since that visit. Türkiye is among the leading actors contributing to the stability, security, development and prosperity of Somalia.

Our relationship and cooperation with Somalia bear fruit not only in bilateral context, but also in regional context as well. Türkiye, with its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia, makes important contributions to the security and stability of the Horn of Africa. Our country will continue to support brotherly Somalia in the future on the basis of "African solutions for African problems".

On this occasion, I would like to greet you on behalf of myself and the staff of our Embassy, emphasizing that the doors of our Embassy are always open not only to our citizens but also to our Somali brothers and sisters.
